(where I was saving the backup) get filled, then the software say that I can change the place of the files,

With the first partition, there's no problem making the backup, but with the second partition, one of the disk I made back up the partitions with Symantec Ghost, each one have their Ghost's files. I have a Hardisk, have 2 partitions (1, System = Windows XP, NTFS - 2, Datas = NTFS, Extended).Ģ. Note: The about the Ghost32.exe say Symantec Ghost 11.5 Corporate Edition, and Ghostexp.Exe say Symantec Ghost Explorer 11.ġ. Hi, excuse me if I can't explain my case. So the remain information is in the Ghost files. I can't try restore the files with a tool like ontrack file recovery because I Filled with zero the whole disk. It's obiously that the problem is int the first file (GHO). If those instructions could be usefully with my case! I read the post in the forum and I don't know I know that all the datas are RAWED in the ghost files. when I try to open again the ghost files the GE say that is notĪ Ghost File (crap), so I try to open it with NG (using check image) with the same result. I must exit from the GE (because some files drop a error. once restored the files, they was deleted from the ghost files Well, I used GE to extract the content (I don't want restore the whole partition Information ghosted), I was extracting the content of the ghost files, so. Where the rest of spanned files will be droped(other hard drive). The result, 43 ghost files (GHO + GHS), when the first disk when I was droping the files was fully. Spaning with file size of 700mb, high compression (z9). I clone a partition hardisk using Norton Ghost 11.5. Using 3 Hard disk, 1 be clonned, 2 / 3 used to save the ghost files WinPE gets updated every six months in line with the major updates of Win 10, so for a free tool, is well maintained and in my experience, has worked very well.NG = Norton Ghost, GE= Norton Ghost Explorer There is of course a free imaging tool (ImageX), much like Ghost, included in the free Microsoft WinPE download. It will be interesting to see whether Broadcomm bring a different dynamic to the table but at the end of the day there are shareholders to satisfy and profit levels to be achieved. Staff that did the original development inevitably moved on to other employers and skills were lost, leading to new releases having more bugs than the older versions, and thus to user unhappiness. Many products canned by Symantec were originally produced by companies they acquired, and the Symantec policy seems to have been to extract as much revenue as possible out of each product line and then can it. The cost of developing and maintaining the products is weighed against the annual revenues from that product and if the revenues are less than the development/maintenance costs then the product gets canned. Symantec have end of lifed many good products, and I am sure it was nothing more than a financial decision.

Can I boot them in a Virtual Machine in Win 10? (Sounds cumbersome.) Nortong Ghost 15 (2009) but the key is unredable (old thermal yellow sticker, parts of the numers faded or rubbed off).

Is it because I am in Indonesia at the moment and VPN is blocked, or are the files no longer there?Īlternatively, how to install old versions of Norton Ghost on Windows? I understand that it is not compatible for imaging, but surely it could open and extract GHO files?

Norton Ghost Explorer 11.5 was free but the download links are not working for me. (would also like the ability to load an GHO image in a virtual machine in case I need to use some old program that I no longer have, but that's not a current need right now.) I also want to open the GHO files to ensure that I'm not throwing away any important data that I haven't backuped elswere before deleting them. My recovery experience is that GHO files are often corrupted, so I want to verify them before selecting which GHO files to save.
